CHRISTINE MCNAIR is the author of Charm (Book*hug 2017, winner of the 2018 Archibald Lampman Award) and Conflict (Book*hug 2012, finalist for the City of Ottawa Book Award, the Archibald Lampman Award, and the ReLit Award for Poetry). Toxemia (Book*hug 2024) is her first published work of hybrid non-fiction -- a poetic memoir of her experience with preeclampsia, illness, and various aspects of toxicity.
Christine was born and mostly raised in Mississauga (part of the treaty and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations) minus a few early years in Blackburn Hamlet.
She completed an undergraduate degree with an honours creative writing thesis at Acadia University (Wolfville, NS) before spending two years as an editor's devil at a small literary press. She completed a master's degree in the conservation of books and library materials at West Dean College (West Sussex, UK) and is a former co-publisher and book designer for Chaudiere Books. She currently works as a book conservator in Ottawa.
