Fran Kimmel writes and teaches in central Alberta. After graduating from the University of Calgary with a degree in Sociology, she has held an eclectic assortment of jobs including Boys and Girls Club director, youth worker, career counsellor, proposal writer, communications coordinator, instructor, and a 10-year stint as a vice president for a national transition management firm. Fran’s plays have been produced for radio and theatre, and her stories have appeared in literary journals across Canada. Fran's debut novel, THE SHORE GIRL, won the 2013 Alberta Readers' Choice Award and her second book, NO GOOD ASKING, was shortlisted for the 2019 ReLit and Georges Bugnet Literary Awards. CATTAIL LANE will hit bookshelves in the spring of 2025.
