Laura Bontje

Biography

Laura Bontje (she/her) is a Canadian children's book author and a freelance fiction editor. Her books include the palindrome-packed adventure Was It a Cat I Saw? (illus. Emma Lidia Squillari) and the cicada-inspired story When the Air Sang (illus. Sarah Whang). In 2026, Groundwood Books will publish Marian's Big Dig (illus. Scot Ritchie), the story of a young geology enthusiast who's certain she's found a dinosaur fossil. Stay tuned for more to come!

Laura was raised in Calgary, Alberta, and now lives in London, Ontario.
