Over more than twenty-five years as a professional storyteller, Danica Lorer has delighted audiences of all ages. She has been struck by lightning, a moose, a rogue semi-tire, vehicles, and the odd strange idea. Danica believes in the power of story and of listening and telling.
She has had short stories or poems published in untethered, Poetry All Over the Floor, Grain, Alice Unbound-Beyond Wonderland, release any words stuck inside of you, antiLang, and Spring. In 2019/2020 she was one of the resident artists for the City of Saskatoon’s Bunkhouse Project at the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. In 2020 she received funding to host ghost story walks in downtown Saskatoon. She has been a recipient of a Canada Council grant in the Explore and Create, Concept to Realization category and SK Arts creation grants. In 2014(live) and 2022(virtually) she toured as part of Canadian Children’s Book Week. She has presented hundreds of writing and storytelling workshops to people from 0-103 years old, some of the workshop partners have been SaskCulture, The Saskatchewan Cultural Exchange Society, The Global Gathering Place, Saskatoon Open Door Society, the Saskatchewan Writer’s Guild, Spark Your Pride, Saskatchewan History and Folklore Society, the Creative Nonfiction Collective Society, and the Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada. Danica loves telling stories to audiences across Canada at festivals, community events, in schools, libraries, care homes, and more.
