Ruth DyckFehderau and her James Bay Cree colleagues (Elders, storytellers) have won the Electa Quinney Award for Published Indigenous Stories (Association for the Study of American Indian Literatures) for their 2023 book E nâtamukw miyeyimuwin: Residential School Recovery Stories of the James Bay Cree (V1). The storytellers own copyright of their stories, the project is overseen by Elders, and proceeds go to long-term Elder care.
